BRAND HISTORY:

The brand was created by a lawyer, Dr. Ernst Kurtz, in Germany, in Glashütte, at the time of the great pre-war economic crisis. Since the early 1940s, watches have become Tutima's specialty. At that time, the brand produced timepieces for the Luftwaffe which are now popular among collectors.

Ernst Kurtz left Glashütte a few days before the end of the war, and he settled in southern Germany to continue his career with the “Kurtz” watch factory. Dieter Delecate, a former collaborator of Kurtz who became the owner of Tutima, revived the classic chronograph for pilots in the early 1990s. His remake under the simple name “1 941” remains, 15 years later, one of the best-selling watches of the brand.

Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, Glashütte has once again become a center of luxury watchmaking. This is why Tutima is planning the construction of a production site there and is considering establishing a subsidiary there, in order to once again have an address in Glashütte. However, the majority of production will remain at the Ganderkesee factory where the company moved 40 years ago.
