Two 19th Century Knitted Caps, one for a child or...
Two 19th Century Knitted Caps, one for a child or doll, the other larger, both embellished with beads. The smaller cap, which would fit a large doll, has a star design knitted to the crown, incorporating tiny blue beads. A definite border separates this from beaded flowers which feature all around the head. A different pattern is used for a deep vertical knitted band, and to the front the cap is finished with pale pink beaded flowers and green leaves. The second bonnet is knitted with a large star, in pink, to the crown, surrounded by a beaded border of small pink flowers and dark leaves, followed by a deep section knitted on the diagonal. On the front and sides, a further border to match the first, and a narrow pink ribbon is threaded to the edge (2)
