Two American Coin Silver Calling Card Cases, 19th Century
the first is attributed to Leonard & Wilson of Philadelphia, circa 1847-1850, unmarked save for an "H" on interior rim of case, the recto featuring a nationalistic image of an eagle perched on a branch, the verso with floral and scroll design, no monogram (3 1/2 x 2 1/2 in.) (minor denting); the second with mark of Albert Coles of New York (active 1835-1871), mid-19th century, rectangular form with engine turned engraving to both sides, the recto with bright-cut floral and scroll engraving, no monogram (3 3/8 x 2 3/8 in.) (minor denting).

A very similar calling card case with the mark of Leonard & Wilson is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and currently on view at the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens.
