Two American Redware Manganese-Decorated Jars
Both likely of Long Island, New York or Connecticut origin, Nineteenth Century. Each of ovoid form with applied handles, the first with incised banding along the shoulder and mid-section with vertical manganese stripes extending from the rim to the midpoint of the body; the second with raised molded sawtooth band at the shoulder above a single impressed band of repeating circles, over a conforming double band at the midsection, decorated with manganese splotches, most vertically orientated. First: H: 9.5 in., W: 9 in., D: 9 in. Second: H: 8.75 in., W: 7.5 in., D: 7.25 in.
