Two Arita porcelain “Tenmoku” vases by Fujii Shumei (1936-2017) . Both items are signed by the artist. Two black porcelain vases, decorated with silver-color plum flowers. The vases come with the original paperworks about the artist. Fujii Shumei is an Arita-ware potter from Saga, the birthplace of Arita and Imari porcelain. His works were not only accepted at numerous art exhibitions both domestic and international, but also purchased as gifts for diplomatic goodwill. While many of his works available for the collectors are in white porcelain and often decorated with blue forest landscapes, these black “Tenmoku” vases are rather rare especially in such good conditions.
