Two Chinese Straits silver-gilt repoussé buckles, Peranakan, each of oval navette form, both decorated with auspicious symbols and with impressed marks to the bars on the reverse Zu Yin and Mei Zhen, 16cm long and 13.3cm long (2) Elaborate buckles such as these were worn at wedding ceremonies by wealthy Peranakans, Chinese immigrants who adopted Malay customs.
