Two Chinese hand mirrors
Two Chinese hand mirrors
Early 20th century
Each unmarked
Comprising one with silver backing featuring enameled sea creature motifs centering an inset carved hardstone above a pierced and carved composite element and faux malachite handle; the other with gilt metal frame and carved wood backing above a green composite element and faux guilloche handle, 2 pieces
Larger: 11" H x 4.375" W x 1.25" D; Smallest: 9.5" H x 3.125" W x 0.5" D
Condition Report: Each overall good condition with scattered scuffs, scratches, soiling, and oxidation commensurate with age. One with carved wood component detached from its mounting with a few chipped losses to the wood, a chipped loss and repair to handle, and rubbed wear to gilt. The larger with tarnishing to silver and a red spot to the inset stone element. Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
