Two Chinese winter and summer hats of official
Qing dynasty, 19th century
Comprising a winter hat with wide woolly folded edge in black, with red tassels issuing from under the bronze hat button, purple silk lining to the top of the hat and red cotton lining to the inside of the hat, 22cm diameter across the widest point; a rattan and bamboo summer hat with gilt bronze finial and red tassels with a four character mark in black ink to the inside, 30cm across (2).

Condition Report:
The winter hat with staining and fraying to the fabric and tassels, verdigris and losses to the bronze hat button, a section of approx. 3 x 1.5cm across missing fabric with repair to the tore inner liner of approx. 0.5cm long. Small holes, possibly worm holes each treatment scattered on the black edge.
The Summer hat with an area of loosened rim of approx. 6cm across, fraying and staining to the hat and tassel. Wear and verdigris to the gilt bronze hat button.
