Two German monogrammed marble tondi in a frame, early

Marble. Fine, slightly oval, border-less plaque, carved as medallions in relief with expressive portraits of women. The heads almost fully round, the design exceptionally animated with great anatomical detail. The monogram F.I.R. on the back. An 18th century master, as yet unidentified, mainly active in the South German area. Similar pieces bearing the same monogram can also be found in Museum Schnütgen in Cologne, for example, see inv. no. K 97 and K 98. Signs of age. On a modern, laminated stand. Minor knocks. Slightly rubbed. Framed, dimensions 28 x 27.5 x 7 cm.
