Eastern Europe, 19th/20th Century. Two icons, tempera on wood panel, with gilt-metal oklads. Depicting Saint John the Baptist's severed head (12 1/4" x 10 1/4"); and Saints Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom (12 1/2" x 11 1/4"). Condition: some denting and wear; the trio of saints missing their halos, and with some surface cracks and in-painting; the oklad on Saint John detached from panel. Provenance: Private Collection, Northern California.
