An illuminated miniature on parchment of the Orthodox Saint Theopiste with her husband, the Great Martyr Eustathius, and their children; inscribed/dated 1743 verso; 3 3/4" x 2 5/8". Together with an oval-trimmed illuminated miniature on parchment of the Virgin (or a saint), with fragmentary manuscript text verso; 2 1/2" x 2". Both laid between plexiglass (9" x 7"). Condition: some surface scuffing/wear, corner creasing. Provenance: Private Collection, Northern California.
