Two Mexican textiles
20th century
Two works comprising a large square wall hanging with a central machine- and hand-stitched applique mask motif and geometric border in multicolored fabric, likely wool on a wool twill ground fabric (37.5" H x 40" W), together with an embroidered hanging or table cover with multicolored crewel work embroidery on a red ground, likely wool, worked in chain stitch in various Aztec motifs including masked figures and stylized animals (40" H x 26" W), 2 pieces
Condition Report: Each in overall good condition with dust accumulation and wear commensurate with age and use. Wall hanging with a few scattered areas of light soiling/faint spots. Scattered areas of shallow, subtle insect grazing with a few tiny holes. With fabric sleeve at top edge for hanging. Red embroidery with a few loose threads and an area of faint staining to top edge. Fabric slightly ruckled from stitch tension. Original design lines visible in places. Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
