Two Petite Babylonian & Akkadian Clay Cuneiform Tablets
Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Akkadian Empire, ca. 2334 to 2154 BCE; Babylonian, Old Babylonian Period, ca. 1900 to 1700 BCE. A fine pair of hand-made clay tablets of near-miniature sizes, each containing several lines of impressed cuneiform script. The first tablet is Akkadian in origin and records a measurement of wool of 26 talents and 1 mina of wool. The largest tablet hails from Old Babylon and records a disbursement of barley. Size of largest (Babylonian): 1.1" W x 1.3" H (2.8 cm x 3.3 cm)

Condition Report: Repair to Akkadian tablet, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines; larger tablet has some chips but is otherwise intact and very good. Both tablets have minor fading to some cuneiform characters. Light earthen deposits throughout.
