Model "assiette plate". The wells decorated with labelled faux-cameo portraits of Anne de Montmorency and Bernard Germain Laville de Lacépède surrounded by gilt meander and lace. The border with spiralling tendrils.
The backs of the plates each inscribed in schwarzlot: "Montmorency (Anne de) Connétable de France né à Chantilly 1493. (d'ap: le tresor de Numismatique)." and "Lacépède (Bernard Germain Etinne Laville, Comte de) Naturaliste né à Agen, 1756. (d'ap: la méd: de Peuvrier).". Blue stamped conjoined LP 1841 mark, gilt W, incised R-40 and 40-10. D 24.3 cm.
