Two Typed Letters Signed from Pamela Turnure, Alleged Mistress to JFK

Two letters signed "Pamela Turnure." The first, 1p, measures 8" x 10.5", no place, dated January 25, 1966. Addressed to Mrs. George I. Pinjuv and typed on mourning stationery, Pamela declines an invitation on Mrs. Kennedy's behalf. It reads in part: "Thank you for your letter of January 10th reiterating your invitation to Mrs. Kennedy to address the Conference of American Women's Activities in France which will be held at the Chateaurous Air Station March 21st to 23rd. I regret very much that Mrs. Kennedy's reply must be a negative one. She has not been accepting any speaking engagements nor does she contemplate any in the foreseeable future. Mrs. Kennedy's greatest wish is to be able to devote as much time as she possibly can to her children and she is particularly reluctant to make any commitments which would necessitate her being away from them for any period of time..." The second letter is 1p, measures 6.25" x 9.25", no place, dated April 25, 1966. Addressed to a Miss Clara K. Wilkerson, Pamela writes a thank you letter on behalf of Mrs. Kennedy. Ms. Wilkerson had offered to donate a group of books concerning the Spanish American War to the John F. Kennedy Library, and Pamela responds, in part: "...Mrs. Kennedy is touched by your generosity. She asked me to explain to you, however, that gifts of this nature are not being accepted for the Library at this time because of space limitations and the type of plans which are now being established. It has become evident that the Library collection will be somewhat different than what the President had originally planned since it will be a memorial to him and the materials directly relating to him are proving so extensive..." Pamela Turnure worked as a receptionist and secretary to Senator John F. Kennedy from 1958 until 1960, when he was elected as President. She then came to work as the first Press Secretary to the First Lady. Pamela was said to resemble Jackie, and she soon caught the roving eye of the president. She reportedly had an affair with him from 1961 to 1963, beginning when she was 21. Both letters have flattened mail folds and are boldly signed by Pamela Turnure.
