Two Vintage Northwest Coast Totem Poles
Offered here for your consideration are two vintage Northwest coast totem poles. These remarkable totem poles are meticulously hand carved and painted, making them each beautiful. One of these totems features a paper explaining that it is a reproduction of the totem standing in Stanley Park, Vancouver that originally belonged to the Kwakuitl or Nimikish Native Americans. This totem is fashioned with a Thunderbird atop with its wings outspread, along with a bear holding a person beneath it. These two figures hold great meaning and are said to represent strength and wisdom, along with more. The second totem pole is also adorned with a bird figure atop with other symbolic figures below it. The artisan skills really shine through these items. Don't miss out and bid now!
MAKER: One of these figures has a tag reading TLINGIT CARVED S. HATFIE. The other totem's description reads Copyright by the SCENERY SHOP Vancouver, Canada.
APPROX AGE: Vintage (meaning somewhere between 1930s to 1970s).
SIZE: One of these totem poles measures 13 1/2 inches tall, with a 5 inches x 6 3/4 inches base. The other totem measures 13 inches tall with a 4 inch squared base.
CONDITION: Fairly good for their age, normal wear and minor imperfections expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition. NOTE: The totems wings on one are not completely secure and the other ones paint is chipped.
HANDLING: There will be a $12 handling / packaging fee for shipping this lot.
