Persia, 14th and 19th Century
the first of rounded form with tapering sides and flattened rim, engraved with a band of inscriptions in thuluth interspersed by rosettes, with later owner's inscriptions to base; the second of similar form, engraved and decorated in silver inlay with cartouches filled with figural scenes to sides and base; and a painted bone belt, Iran, 20th Century, comprising a series of interlinked bone panels painted with floral interlace and figural scenes

Inscriptions: al-'izz wa al-baqa/ al-jud wa al-sakh[a]/ wa al-hilm / wa al-haya .../ wa al-'ata / al-nur wa al-diya/ wa al-'ilm / wa ..., 'Glory and long-life, generosity and liberality and forbearance and modesty ... and favour, light and illumination and knowledge ...' To the base, owners' names, 'Qasim' and 'Bakhtiyar 19'.
