Two late 18th century wood fans, the first a brisé with rounded tips, pierced, with applied cartouche and two vignettes showing scenes of daily activities both at home and abroad, the central scene one of taking refreshments whilst listening to music, the men wearing turbans, the vignettes showing English scenes, a young family playing with a donkey, and a lady and her children reaching out to catch birds, birdcage open at their feet, approx. 27.5 cm. together with a wood fan with double paper leaf, rather of the Directoire style (1795 – 1799), with simple carved gorge sticks and relatively plain sea-green leaf, a central cartouche with a classical, mythological scene of maiden and hunter, perhaps Artemis and Acteon, guard approx. 26.5 cm (2) (Shipping category C)

In fair to good condition, the brisé has some chips out of the rounded sticks and the paper fan has some nicks to folds and a fold to the left has possibly been reglued. Some foxing to the verso
