Two late 19th and early 20th century gold gem-set rings.
A late Victorian 18ct gold split pearl five-stone ring. Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1873, partially indistinct. Ring size O. 3.7gms.
An early 20th century old-cut diamond and black enamel mourning ring. Estimated diamond weight 0.30ct, I-J colour, P3 clarity. Stamped 18. Ring size L1/2. 5.6gms.
Condition Report:
- Overall condition fair. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
- Diamond has a significant fracture to the top facets.
- Diamond ring has significant wear to the enamel and sides of the band.
- Metal purity not present to hallmark.
- Split pearls in fair to good condition with some abrasion and moderate nacre damage.
- Each test as approximately 18ct gold.
- Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
