Two silver mounted table cigarette boxes.

A mid-twentieth century silver mounted table cigarette box, of rectangular engine-turned form with applied rampant lion to the hinged cover, the front edge with engraved presentation inscription to the cartouche, opening to reveal a wood lined interior with removable material tray, the whole raised upon four corner feet, hallmarked John Rose, Birmingham 1966, width measures 8 1/8 inches (20.8 cm). Together with a further similarly decorated modern silver mounted table cigarette box, also with engraved presentation inscription to the cartouche, hallmarked Harman Brothers, Birmingham 1979. (2). In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The 1966 example is engraved 'Presented by the Directors of Joseph Lucas Ltd to GEORGE SMITH in appreciation of 40 years loyal service 1967'. The 1979 example is engraved 'Presented to ALBERT PURSER SOLES in grateful appreciation of 40 years loyal service by the Directors of Lucas Industries 1979'. The 1979 example slightly wobbles on it feet, it also have a removable material tray and has a split to the wood lined interior along the hinge side, it comes with an outer cardboard box. Hallmarks clear and legible.
