Two silver plated flagons
Two silver plated flagons, both of slightly tapering cylindrical form to a spread base, the larger example of lobed outline and with acanthus detail around the spout and to the finial of the hinged cover, maximum height 36.5cm, the smaller flagon with volute thumb-piece to the domed lid, and scroll handle with teardrop shape terminal, maximum height 27cm. Both struck with Cross Keys mark to base. (2).
Condition Report:
- Both with some heavy tarnishing and blackening throughout
- General wear to the plating with base metal showing in some areas
- With surface marks and scratches and some minor dints; dints more notable to body of the smaller flagon
- Both displaying a circular patch to main body - possibly from engraving removal?
- Visible seams
- Some slight knocks/dints around edges, mostly notable around the spout of the larger flagon
- Both with the same Crossed Keys mark to base, and another mark, possibly J.O; and large flagon numbered 1, smaller flagon numbered 4
