Two similar pairs of silvered metal twin light wall sconces in William & Mary taste, early 20th century, the cartouche backplates cast with gryphon masks and foliage below central flaming urn finials flanked by cherubs, issuing knopped scroll branches, 32cm high, 26cm wide, 20cm protuberanceCondition Report: These lights each bear the usual minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use, and there are some irregularities to the casting of the arms though this is due to manufacture.There is some slight wear to the silver plating, and there is some lacquer or polish residue to the rear and recesses.One or two of the candle branch fitments have been strengthened with bolts to the rear, though this is not visible from the front.The underlying metal may be brass though it is quite impossible to tell as the backs bear a light coloured wash. These lights are internally wired and the fitments at present firmly attached, though with (perhaps professional) attention the light fitments could possibly be removed.
