Tyrannosaurus Premaxillary Tooth
Tyrannosaurus Premaxillary Tooth
Tyrannosaurus rex
Cretaceous
Hell Creek Formation, Montana
Large and pristine, this T. rex premaxillary tooth boasts an excellent tip and serrations, with no repair. The all-important tip is intact, with some feeding wear, which occurred during the individual's life. The tooth is rather thick, exhibiting the sharp, squared serrations characteristic of T. rex. All T. rex teeth are shed teeth except the very few that were recovered with the dozen or so partial skeletons that have been found. This impressive and rare tooth was discovered in an ancient river or lakebed on a private ranch in the 67-65-million-year-old Hell Creek Formation of Montana. All T. rex. teeth are in great demand, but those very few that are not broken and repaired, with original tips, are rarely encountered. Measuring 2 1/2in along the curve
