A POSSIBLY UNIQUE UNIVERSAL GENEVE MEN'S MANUAL CHRONOGRAPH, PERPETUAL CALENDAR, MOON PHASE, 18K YELLOW GOLD WRISTWATCH WITH RARE FACETED LUGS. Model: Tri-Compax Date: Circa 1944 Case reference: Movement: Signed, manual chronograph, Cal.481, No. 212XXX Dial: Signed, silvered with a tropical patina, black Arabic numerals, black outer Tachymeter division, blued hands, blued centre seconds hand for the chronograph, subsidiary dial for seconds at the nine o'clock position, subsidiary dial for the chronograph minutes at the three o'clock position, subsidiary dial for the chronograph hours at the six o'clock position, subsidiary dial for the day of the month at the twelve o'clock position with an aperture for the moon phase disk, date aperture at the ten o'clock position, month aperture at the two o'clock position, "SWISS" at the six o'clock position Case: Signed, 18k yellow gold, snap-on back, faceted lugs. Size: 35mm Usually, people think that the name Tri-Compax refers to a watch having three sub-dials; however, the term 'tri' refers to the three complications of chronograph, date and moon phases. The Universal Geneve Tri-Compax was first introduced to the market in 1944 during the Baselworld show (22nd April - 2nd May) to celebrate 50 years of active production, and the triple calendar chronograph with moon phases quickly became Universal Geneve's best-selling watch. This fame became such that during the 1945 Potsdam conference, a Tri-Compax model was given to US President Harry Truman. The dial, movement reference and lower serial number on this model we present here, and the extremely rare, if not unique, faceted lugs, plus the engraving on the back of our watch lead us to believe that it could very well be one of the watches used during the Baselworld show in 1944, when the Tri-Compax model was first presented to the world. A MEN'S UNIVERSAL GENEVE UNI-COMPAX 18K ROSE GOLD WRISTWATCH. Model: Uni-Compax Date: Circa 1960's Movement: Signed Universal, macula chronograph, Cal. 287 Dial: Signed, silvered with a tropical patina, gilt Arabic numerals, gilt outer minute division, gilt dagger hands, gilt centre second hand for the chronograph, subsidiary dial for seconds at the nine o'clock position, subsidiary dial for chronograph minutes at the three o'clock position Case: Signed, 18k rose gold snap-on back Size: 37mmClick here to share:
