UNUSUAL & RARE MEISSEN GLAZED EARTHENWARE PEDIMENT
Circa 1910. Of arched form, mounded in relief with a semi-naked maiden beneath projecting molded formal foliage borders glazed in pale green and turquoise. Impressed mark with crossed swords mark flanked by the dates 1710/1910.. measures 86.5 cm long. This is a very rare survival of the Meissen manufacture’s experiments in earthenware architectural decorations in the early part of 20th century. Sold Christie’s south Kensington 1990.
