U.S. Krag bayonet used after the adoption of the .30-40 Krag in 1892, when the U.S. Army began to catch up with foreign powers in the use of small caliber magazine-fed arms using smokeless powder. The bayonet, 11.5 in. blade and 16 in. overall, is marked ‘U.S.' on the ricasso and dated 1901 on the reverse. The blade is in relic condition. SOLD WITH a U.S. marked mess knife, 3.75 in. blade and 4.25 in. overall.
