US MODEL 1816 CONVERTED CONTRACT MUSKET
Produced by M.T. Wickham of Philadelphia circa 1822-1837 (this one is dated 1834) with about 16,000 total mfg. It was later converted to percussion. .Aside from the Wickham stamp and date on action, features are basically the same as the Model 1816 Springfield with a 42" round barrel, .69 smooth bore, three barrel bands, metal ramrod, one piece full length walnut stock, single rear sling swivel, iron mountings. All metal parts were finished bright except lock was case color. This rifle has survived in excellent condition overall although the main spring is weak and rear sight is missing.
