US MODEL 1863 TRENTON CONTRACT RIFLE

NSN. BARREL 33". BORE .58 PERCUSSION. This was a standard Civil War contract rifle. The action is stamped US with Eagle and Trenton. The walnut stock has a visible but not readable cartouche. It retains two bands, period ramrod, curved butt plate and standard two blade folding rear sight. After the war, this rifle was shortened aka a cadet type rifle. Metal is gray patina.
