US MODEL 1873 TRAPDOOR SPRINGFIELD RIFLE

SERIAL NUMBER: 168433. BARREL: 32 5/8". CALIBER: 45-70. It features two barrel bands, nose cap, cleaning rod, and standard 1873 rear sight. Lock is marked "US SPRINGFIELD" over "1873" with eagle in center. Breech block is marked US Model 1873. Barrel is Armory proofed VP Eaglehead P. Includes correct angular bayonet marked US. Leather sling is attached. CONDITION: The metal is mostly smooth with a dark gray patina. The legends are worn. The stock has been sanded and repair at the top left side of the wrist with piece missing. There is no visible cartouche. Action is crisp and the bore is frosted with light pitting. ANTIQUE
