US SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1884 TRAPDOOR RIFLE
SERIAL 461154. BARREL 32 5/8". CALIBER .45-70. MADE IN 1889. This is a real clean example of an Indian Wars rifle that has a fine SWP (Sam Porter) 1889 cartouche on left side along with cursive P on bottom of wrist. Rifle sports the typical Buffington rear sight with post front. Has double swivels on front band and one on guard. The block is dated 1884 and still has colors on inside and traces outside. Barrel is a smooth mix of original blue and gun metal gray. Lock has the US Springfield with Eagle stamp. Barrel has vp eagle head proof. Walnut stock is in excellent condition. Bore is crisp.
