Colt Navy 1851 Asheville, North Carolina Confederate States of America Serial number: 237 Superb vintage copy, Colt Navy 1851 from the Southern State of North Carolina, manufactured in 1865. At the end of the Civil War, Asheville Armory of North Carolina manufactured copies of northern weapons such as the Springfield Musket, the Colt Navy and Army, etc. An order for 300 Colt Navy pistols had been placed by officers of a cavalry group of 1,500 Confederate fighters nicknamed the ‘Asheville Raiders’ who were tasked with harassing northern convoys. This Colt is the number 237; on the other hand, there is the number 291 on the back of the butt. In excellent working order.
