USMC Marked Springfield Armory Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle With Bayonet .30-06 Caliber
This Model 1903 rifle was built by Springfield Armory in 1907 and is chambered in .30-06. It features a blade front sight with clip on sight hood and adjustable rear ladder sight on a 24" barrel. The barrel is marked "USMC 1-44" with a Circle S below showing the barrel was made by R.F. Sedgley Co., which produced USMC barrels from 1941 to 1944. The receiver is marked "US Springfield Armory Model 1903" with early script serial number and is fitted with a left side magazine cutoff and flag safety on the rear of the bolt. The straight grip stock has a rough finish with no cartouches, and is fitted with sling and stacking swivels and a steel butt plate with plastic oiler tube with pull through cleaner. Included with the rifle is a RIA model 1905 bayonet dated 1906 with flaming bomb cartouche and comes in a USN Mk1 marked plastic scabbard. The bayonet has a 15 1/2" blade and measures 20" overall.
