"Arcangelo Metropolitano" hand painted plexiglass lamp and with metal structure designed and produced Ugo La Pietra in 2007. Limited edition of 50 pieces each different from the other. Exhibited at the Milan Triennale at the "Anni Settanta" show, 2007/2008.BiographyUgo La Pietra was born in Bussi sul Tirino (Pescara).He got his degree in architecture at Politecnico in Milan and applied himself to research in visual art and music. An artist, an architect, a designer and a researcher in the field of communication systems, since 1962 he has developed an activity towards the clarification of the relationship between individual and environment.In the 1960 he developed an intense experimental activity, which took shape in the theories of “Sistema disequilibrante” (unbalancing system), an original and personal contribution to the European radical design.He informs about his researches through works and exhibitions: he was invited to plan experimental environments at Triennale in Milan in 1968 and in 1972 he was at Museum of Modern Art in New York for the exhibition “Italy New Domestic Landscapes”. He was in charge of the audiovisual section at Triennale in Milan in 1981, of the exhibition “Cronografie” at Biennale in Venice in 1992, of the “Natural-Virtual” section at triennale in Milan in 1996.He directed the following art magazines: In, Progettare Inpiù, Brera Flash, Fascicolo, Area, Abitare con Arte; he is currently directing Artigianato tra Arte e Design.He was art director for the magazines Domus, D’Ars, AU.He won first prize at the Cinema Festival in Nancy in 1975 and at Compasso d’Oro in 1979, won second prize at the contest for the Urban Park of the former tobacco factory in Bologna in 1985 and was selected for the contest for the restructuring of the columns of San Lorenzo in Milan.Since 1985 he has organized exhibitions and seminars, bringing the spirit of his projects inside different materials: mosaic work from Spilimbergo, wood from Cantù, inlaid wood from Sorrento, alabaster from Volterra, mosaic work from Ravenna, stone from Lecce, Sicilian lava stone, stone from Alcamo, baked clay from Faenza, Deruta, Caltagirone, Vietri sul Mare, Friuli, Grottaglie, crystal from Colle Val d’Elsa.DIMENSIONSH 76.78 in. x W 51.19 in. x D 34.26 in. / H 195 cm x W 130 cm x D 87 c
