[ translate ]

By Ulises Carrion
417 x 290 mm. Exhibition poster printed purple on white. Produced on the occasion of Ulises Carrion's two lectures/performances 'Mail Art and the Big Monster' and 'Names and Addresses: Write Clear' at the Galerie S:t Petri Archive of Experimental and Marginal Art in Lund, Sweden, between the 14-15th February, 1979. Designed by Thomas Gravemaker. The central image illustrates a King Kong figure, a city skyline and a bird flying past with an envelope. A significant image for the work of Ulises Carrion produced, as the Reina Sofia noted in his recent retrospective exhibition, 'During his most creative artistic period' when he 'participated in the international mail art network. For Ulises Carrión, mail art was a kind of guerilla strategy. Whether one uses the mail system as a support as one would use canvas, paper, or wood or as a means of distribution, both "art" and "mail" coalesce to control the production and distribution of art (Mail Art and the Big Monster, book, Egmont Hojskolen, 1977)' See: Dear Reader Don't Read on the Reina Sofia website. No edition size given. Unsigned. Scarce. Condition: Fine.
