Unidentified Artist, Racing Sailboat, 1971 Photo-Screenprint
Racing Sailboat, 1971, is a photo-screenprint on paper mounted to board. The heavily grained image shows a racing sailboat emerging from a nearly black field, its tall mainsail marked “USA” and set before a broad rounded spinnaker. The stark white sails and hull stand out against the dark water and sky, with the crew reduced to small clustered forms along the deck. Signed indistinctly “Rut Wd” and dated “1971” in the lower-right margin; no edition number is visible. Condition shows light toning and scattered marks in the margins, small stains and adhesive residue along the lower edge, and extensive old mounting residue with substantial surface-paper loss on the verso. Image remains clear and presents well from the front. Provenance of Martin and Enid Gleich.
