Unidentified humor comic book artist - misc publisher, Marvel Artist Crazy Magazine House Ad Illustration Original Art (Marvel, 1973)....

Marvel Artist Crazy Magazine House Ad Illustration Original Art (Marvel, 1973). Doctor Marcus Welby, M.D. (played by Robert Young) asks "Reading More, but Enjoying it Less?", borrowing a slogan from Taryton cigarettes, to inform us that four out of five comedians have signed off on Marvel's new humor magazine, Crazy: Woody Allen (whoops!), Bob Hope, Lily Tomlin's Ernestine the Telephone Operator ("One ringy-dingy..."), Richard Nixon (Hah! Get it?) and the fifth comedian, the one who disapproves? Alfred E. Neuman! No pressure, Crazy. It's not always possible to place a house ad's first appearance, but in this case, we know it ran in Vampire Tales #1, two months before Crazy Magazine #1. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 15" x 10". Board is lightly toned with light handling and wear. Production oil stains, smudges, and soiling. Top right corner torn from paper clip. In Very Good condition. From the Personal Collection of Marv Wolfman.
