[ translate ]

Light cavalry sabre model 1821 created under the reign of William IV, uncle and predecessor of Empress Victoria. This sabre was used by the vast majority of the UK light cavalry during part of the 19th century. It is famous for being the sabre that was used by the light cavalry in their last charge against the Russian guns at the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War. Its general condition is very good, it does not show traces of rust and the nickel plating is in very good condition although slightly dull over time. The hilt made of stingray skin and with its triple filigree in original silver. Guard with 3 quillons. Blade in very good condition with a single cutting edge and slightly curved in its back third. Nickel-plated scabbard with two rings. Model very similar to the standing troop one but these were more ornate and better finished like the stripe and the brass wire since it was the cavalry officers who paid for their weapons. Images are part of the description, any omission seeing images. Insured shipping and collection at a pick up point if possible.
