Pos. 100L12, bottom margin single with guideline at right (many perf disks at bottom unpunched showing all important type characteristics), o.g., lightly hinged, well centered with beautiful delicate shade, an Extremely Fine gem, with 1999 P.S.E. certificate. Scott No. 18; $2,100. A RARE ORIGINAL GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1861, 1¢ BLUE, TYPE I SHOWING EVERY ASPECT OF THE DESIGN. A MAGNIFICENT STAMP. Due to the spacing and perforating, many surviving examples of this type have the design characteristics at top or bottom affected by the perforations.
