Unknown - Flower - a vintage autochrome, around 1910
\Artist: Unknown\Signature: Not signed
Vintage autochrome print, from around 1910, of a white flower with green leaves. Great piece for botanist, botanical musea, herbarium lovers. The condition in the centre of the image a fantastic. On the sides and edges, some loss of the silver halide layer is visible and a few tiny cracks. The contrast, sharpness and details are unparalleled. A very rare, timeless piece of beauty. The fine condition makes this photograph even more seldom. The Autochrome Lumière was an early color photography process patented in 1903 by the Lumière brothers in France and first marketed in 1907. Autochrome was an additive color "mosaic screen plate" process. It was the principal color photography process in use before the advent of subtractive color film in the mid-1930s.
