Inscription: Below the image in the plate monogrammed: "LSTRAVCH[?]", inscribed on the mat: "Stephan Strauch. Mafler[?]", verso on the mat collector's stamp "EK", Collection Erhard Oskar Kaps, Leipzig (Lugt no. 3549) and collector's stamp "Sammlung Scharfen" (Lugt no. 3951)

Condition: Good condition. The paper is slightly soiled and shows weak rubbing. The backing is clearly discoloured and soiled.

Description: After a self-portrait of the Nuremberg artist Stephan Strauch, who at the age of 31 fell from a collapsing pergola on the Pegnitz and drowned in the river.
