Václav Jír? (1910-1980) was a Czech photographer and editor. He started photographing as a photo amateur, and since 1926 he has published photographs and articles. He first exhibited in 1933. He collaborated with the Vlasta Burian Theater, photographed at the Liberated Theater, devoted himself to advertising photography and became known also in foreign press ( London News , London Life , Picture Post , Sie und Er , Zeit im Bild).
In 1940, he was arrested by the Gestapo for resistance, sentenced to life imprisonment and imprisoned until the end of the war. After the war, he became a member of the Union of Czechoslovak Journalists and in 1948 a member of the Union of Czechoslovak Fine Artists. In 1957 he founded and conducted a four-language photographic revue of Photography magazine.
