6 volumes. 8vo (207 x 125 mm). Large folding map, engraved folding chart and 17 engraved folding plates. Contemporary mottled calf, rebacked, gilt-lettered red spine labels. Large folding map with some separation at folds, repaired tears reinforced on verso mainly at folds, one folding plate trimmed into imprint, foxing to plates, mostly light, first volume spine rebacked preserving previous spine, some flaking to surface of boards.
Provenance: Ridley-Colborne (William Nicholas Ridley Colborne, 1779-1854, ownership signature to front free endpaper).

SECOND EDITION, REVISED. Vancouver spent much time on the coasts of California and the Pacific Northwest, compiling some of the first accurate charts of the area. Vancouver also spent time in the South Pacific including the Hawaiian Islands. Valerian Lada-Morcarski in his Bibliography of Books on Alaska considers Vancouver's voyage one of the most important "for the history and the cartography of the northwest coast in general and of Alaska in particular." Forbes 335; Hill 1754; Howes V-23; Lada-Mocarski 55 (first edition); Sabin 98444; Zamarano 80 77 (first edition, but this edition mentioned).
