VERY FINE AND RARE FEDERAL CARVED MAHOGANY MARLBORO-FOOT TESTER BEDSTEAD, PROBABLY RHODE ISLAND, CIRCA 1780

Height 88 in. by Width 60 in. by Depth 79 ½ in.

Condition Report:
In overall very fine condition apparently retaining its original outer tester frame, headboard, foot facings, and a rich, dark early surface. There is an old crack in the proper left side rail. The added support retains a fine old color, indicating that it was added in the early 19th century. Lacking a number of rope tie buttons on rails and inner tester frame. Bed bolt covers are period but may be replacements. Accompanied with modern tester balances and skirt.
