VERY GOOD GERMAN BAROQUE STANDING SALT
German, nicely cast with grotesque figures and heraldic beasts on each of the 3 sides, and a crested shield on one (stork with snake), base hallmarked with multiple marks, probably by J.D. Schleissner & Söhne of Hanau, Germany. The firm was the pre-eminent producer of antique style silverware in the late 19th century, exhibiting in the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition and the 1904 St Louis international exposition. Measuring, 4" high and 598 grams.
