PASSINI, Ludwig, (Italian, 1832-1903): Venice Street Vendor, a Young Girl Selling her Wares along a Canal, Watercolor, sight size 18.5" x 11.75", signed lower left, dated 1880, marked "Venezia", period gilded gesso frame, 27.25" x 20.5" x 2.5". Original Dominion Gallery label from Montreal, Canada affixed verso. Sold with original paperwork from the Gallery including Certificate of Authenticity signed by Max Stern, PhD. Also includes original receipt from 1954 as well as an appraisal from 1984 for $1500. Painting was originally acquired from the collection of Baron von Quh, a well-known Viennese collector.
Condition Report: Frame shows some loss to gilt, scattered separations in the gesso.
