Unsigned. After George Bartlett's engraving of the same name, published in "American Scenery: Or, Land, Lake and River Illustrations of Transatlantic Nature".
Provenance:
Private Collection, Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Anthony's Nose, together with Dunderberg Mountain, comprises the South Gate of the Hudson Highlands. Legend has it that it is named after Captain Anthony Hoga, who had an impressive and rather prominent nose.
Oil on canvas, 23.5" x 29". Framed 28.5" x 34".

Condition: Relined and restretched. UV light reveal minor restoration primarily to the sky at the upper edge.
