Modelled as a cicada, a half off-round pearl and a mabé pearl set as the head and abdomen respectively, the thorax and wings accented with bead-set rose-cut diamonds together weighing approximately 1.00 carat, mounted in 9ct gold with silver tops, length 45mm, width 17mm, total gross weight approximately 15 grams.

In our opinion, the pearls are of silvery body color, medium luster with heavily wrinkled skins with some growth irregularites. The diamonds well matched probably of H/I colour and SI/Pique clarity as gauged and graded within the limitations of the cutting style and the mounting. The mounting has wear to the metal in the form of scratches, dents, tarnishing and some discolouration of the metal, with evidence of later repairs, some claws may require attention.
The brooch is of very good workmanship with signs of wear consistent with age and use, not noticeable when worn.
Overall condition is moderate to good considering its period.
