Circular bronze, just under 1” diameter with a cylindrical center, and beveled face meeting the flat back as an outer ridge. The surface with light texture from burial. Professionally conserved and the 24karat gold surface restored. On a modern black leather neck cord with gilt closure, gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity. Worn in numbers on the surface of the jerkin, these small metal brooches provided a measure of protection against sword cuts and, in fact, were a form of armor.
