Reliquary fetish
20th century.Height: 43 cm.Anthropoid (ape) skull, resin, finely woven wickerwork.The lower part of this fetish features an ape’s skull set with a resin face. Two braided wicker cords attach it to the rear and top structure, which is made from wicker strips. In the upper rear section, a hole sealed with resin contains the supposedly magical filling. It has two side handles which may symbolise two ears.
