VINTAGE MALI WEST AFRICAN HUNTER'S TUNIC
Hunter's tunic worn by Bambara, Bamana and Dogon people of Mali, West Africa, with mirrors, cowrie shells, clam shells, leather fringe and bronze bells, thought to serve as both physical and spiritual protection for the hunter. Base material of brown burlap style material, designed to slip on and fit loose, with open armpits for ease of movement. Measures 64 inches cuff to cuff, and 39 inches from the top of the shoulders to the hem. Thought to be of mid-20th century origin.
Condition: Good condition, mild wear to leather fringe and other elements, well preserved.
